Preschool
Our preschool day in the Montessori classrooms begins at 8:30am and goes until 11:30am.
In The Montessori Method, Maria Montessori stated that “the education of the senses must assume the greatest importance,” and the Montessori materials “cause the child to exercise the senses.” The school is equipped fully with the Montessori materials of practical life, sensorial, math, language, art, science, and geography, as well as many supplemental activities, including large-muscle activity in our indoor gym, field trips, and visits from School House Symphony.
At MCR, our goal is to provide children with opportunities for independence and self-exploration. We allow them to dress themselves, clean up after themselves, and look to other children for help. Children learn to work independently with focus and collaboratively with their peers. Children are given daily one-on-one lessons, small group lessons and participate together in a large group meeting at the end of each morning.
The activities in the environment are tailored to the children’s needs and interests. Children learn to care for themselves and their classroom environment. There are ample opportunities to practice grace and courtesy while developing skills to be a contributing member of a community, in a safe, loving setting.
Enrichment
At Montessori Center Room, our Enrichment program provides after school care for our currently enrolled students. Our Enrichment Program is Montessori-based and led by an Enrichment Coordinator who is Montessori-trained. Enrichment hours for 2026-2027 school year are 11:30AM to 5:30PM, Monday through Friday. There are different Enrichment Packages families can choose from:
Pre-K Part Time Enrichment Packages:
Package #1: Monday – Friday: $770/month
Package #2: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: $470/month
Package #3: Tuesday & Thursday: $320/month
Pre-K Full Time Enrichment Packages:
Package #1: Monday – Friday: $1,170/month
Package #2: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: $710/month
Package #3: Tuesday & Thursday: $480/month
Kindergarten Enrichment Packages:
Package #1: Monday – Friday: $650/month
Package #2: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: $430/month
Package #3: Tuesday & Thursday: $230/month
Enrichment is available to parents on a regularly scheduled basis. Availability is first-come, first-served.
Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten or Leadership year is offered Monday through Thursday from 8:30AM to 3:00PM and Friday from 8:30AM to 11:30AM.
Because children who leave MCR attend many different public, Montessori, and parochial schools for first grade, our goal is to insure they are given opportunities that will expose them to the different situations they may encounter in first grade. Our kindergarteners have daily handwriting lessons, learning both manuscript and cursive. They study different science and social studies units, including botany, the solar system, and geography and attend fields trips for nearly every unit they study. These trips serve as a wonderful extension of the classroom.
This kindergarten year is the year where all the work and energy they’ve put forth as preschoolers really comes together. It is their opportunity to be the leaders of the group and the role models for the rest of the class. With that comes a confidence that will carry them through their entire school experience. MCR students must have at least one year of experience in a Montessori preprimary classroom before beginning their Kindergarten year.
